The Woodstock Business Improvement Corporation Inc. (Downtown W
oodstock) was incorporated in 1986 under The Business Improvement Areas Act. Boundaries for the Business Improvement Area (BIA) were set during incorporation and have remained the same throughout the years. The BIA is funded through a special levy imposed by the commercial property owners on themselves which comes back to the BIA to operate and reinvest in the sustainability of the Downtown. The commercial property owners have levied themselves $0.20 / $100 of assessed value of their commercial property within the boundaries of the BIA. As a not for profit organization Downtown Woodstock’s mission is to reinvest these dollars into the Downtown boundaries and businesses for the betterment of all the citizens of Woodstock!
In the coming years Downtown Woodstock would like to work with property owners and businesses outside the BIA Boundaries to incorporate them into a boarder BIA in the spirit of cooperation and inclusion.
